3 Thoughts From Me

I.
In design, what you think is only half the story. The true test of your creative vision lies in how it manifests in the physical world. Just as others understand us through our actions, a design only resonates when it clearly communicates its intended message. Remember, a well-conceived idea is only as powerful as its execution. To avoid being misunderstood, ensure your designs speak as clearly as your thoughts.
II.
In the design process, aiming for perfection can sometimes lead to stagnation. Instead, approach your work with the mindset that your first draft is unlikely to be flawless. Assume that there’s room for improvement and focus on refining your ideas. This shift from 'being right' to 'being less wrong' encourages curiosity and adaptability, essential traits for innovative design. By embracing this mindset, you not only enhance your work but also foster a culture of continuous learning and growth.
III.
In design, just like in life, habits are inevitable. Every choice you make and every process you follow consistently will become a habit that shapes your work. Whether these habits lead to excellence or mediocrity depends on what you choose to repeat. Be mindful of your routines, because over time, they define the quality of your designs. Remember, what you consistently do in your creative process reinforces the standards you set for yourself and your work.

2 Quotes From Others

I.
“In the end, we are our choices. Build yourself a great story.”
— Jeff Bezos
II.
“Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.”
— Warren Buffett

1 Question For You

Here’s a straightforward question with the potential for far-reaching impact: As a new week approaches, take a moment to reflect on your habits and actions. What routines have you formed, intentionally or not, that shape your work and life? Considering that our actions define us and our habits shape our outcomes, ask yourself: What should you do more of this coming week? And what should you do less of to avoid stagnation or misunderstanding?
With thanks,
David
