What Endures Under Pressure
Some thoughts on how we show up when things get difficult, and what endures when the moment passes.
3 Thoughts From Me
I.
Grief and friendship
A friend’s loss reminded me that presence matters more than words.
You don’t need the right thing to say.
Just be there.
II.
Reputation is slow
Your name carries weight long after the project ends.
Good work travels quietly, but it travels far.
Reputation isn’t loud. It’s consistent.
III.
Tight spots show who you are
Deadlines, delays, decisions you didn’t choose.
This is where your practice becomes real.
Not in theory, but in tension.
2 Quotes From Others
I.
On love and grief
“Grief is the price we pay for love.”
(Speech, 2001)
A reminder that sorrow has roots in connection. It’s not weakness. It’s the echo of care.
II.
On reputation
“It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it.”
(Interview, 2000)
Still holds true. Especially when you’re tired, stressed or tempted to cut corners.
1 Question For You
When things get hard, how do you want to be remembered?
With thanks,
David
