Make What’s Yours Count
It’s easy to look at someone’s success and assume they were built for it. But most of what we admire is earned, not inherited. This week is about knowing what’s yours to carry, and what isn’t.
3 Thoughts From Me
I.
You might not have been dealt the best hand. But it’s still your hand to play. What you practise daily will shape you more than what you started with.
II.
Being responsible for your life doesn’t mean blaming yourself for everything. It means being honest about what’s within your control. And choosing what to do with that.
III.
Time doesn’t feel precious when you’re always rushing. But even a few minutes used with care can change the rhythm of your day. Give your attention like it matters. Because it does.
2 Quotes From Others
I.
On managing your attention
“Nothing in life is as important as you think it is, while you are thinking about it.”
(Book, 2011)
This reminds me how quickly the mind can distort urgency. A few steps back often reveals that not everything needs to be acted on immediately.
II.
On taking responsibility without blame
“You don’t have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you.”
(Interview, 1994)
This has helped me separate awareness from judgement. Not everything that crosses your mind needs your permission to stay.
1 Question For You
What part of your day could be more deliberate if you gave it five extra minutes?
With thanks,

P.S. Sometimes the most generous thing you can do is slow down and take yourself seriously.
